Desso DLW Excels to Take Golfing Honours

Companies from across the industry gathered together last week for SAPCA’s annual golf tournament, The SAPCA Open, held at the prestigious Warwickshire Club, close to SAPCA’s Headquarters in Stoneleigh Park. Guests from the LTA, the NPFA and UK Athletics joined tournament sponsors Leisure Industry Week to test their skills with SAPCA members in what proved to be challenging conditions, a mid-afternoon thunderstorm ensuring that only the more determined competitors would prevail.

The team of Lee Gladwell and Tom Revitt from Desso DLW Sports Systems won through to lift the SAPCA Open trophy for the first time, having been runners up in 2004. Gladwell and Revitt notched up a very impressive team score of 73 Stableford points, to see off a determined challenge from runners up Kevin Keep and Lee Williams from Syntex Sports Surfacing Ltd, who scored 68.

Tom Revitt’s outstanding score of 43 was also enough to take the individual honours, finishing four points ahead of nearest rival Andy Sinton of Domo Sports and Leisure Grass.

Steve Kerwin of DCM Premier Play Surfaces set what proved to be an unbeatable challenge early on in the Longest Drive competition, while Michael Westcott of Leisure Industry Week had to present himself with the prize for Nearest The Pin!

The morning’s nine-hole charity event, in support of the British Paralympic Association, was won by the combination of Les MacLean (Doe Sport North Ltd), Mark Fisher (LTA), Lee Greaves (LTA) and Tom Revitt (Desso DLW Sports Systems).

The
SAPCA Open 2006 will again be held at The Warwickshire Club, on Wednesday 28 June 2006.
