Product Manager – Playground Surfacing Segment. Newark, Nottinghamshire
Conica Limited a subdidiary of Conica AG , a market leading manufacturer of high quality surfacing solutions for sports, playgrounds and industrial flooring is recruiting a Product Manager for its playground segment. The successful applicant will be involved at all stages in maximising the economical value of the product and service portfolio. Planning, managing and controlling all playground products and services through their life cycle with the key objectives to maximise profitability and useability. The position is UK based but the applicant will be responsible for Product Management of playground surfacing products thoughout the Group, including Playtop, the Group’s market leading surfacing brand sold under licence in more than 40 countries around the world. The Product Manager will report to the Head of Segment - Playgrounds.
Key features are:
A. Product Market Strategy and Product Portfolio Management
Planning and managing the playground product and service offerings from a strategic perspective during the whole life-cycle; being technically and commercially responsible for the product/service portfolio with the objective to successfully manage products and services profitably.
Responsibility for product/service positioning in the respective target markets, for delivering the market message and for supporting the sales organisation and customers with the relevant key sales messages and tools.
Conducting product and market analysis, competitor analysis, SWOT analysis, PESTLE analysis, complaint analysis, profitability reports, etc; creating presentations and executive summaries and tables for the segment head and the board of directors based on analysis of market data.
B. Project management
Defining market requirements and preparing analysis (market potential, resource requirements, product specifications, business cases, etc) for future products and services as well as new business opportunities based on market knowledge and results of the analysis; defining required innovation.
Defining, initializing and leading of product/service innovation projects (from initial idea to market success); providing project status reports on a regular basis; collaborating with internal and external process partners including test houses during the project work in order to deliver the specified project results.
C. Product Range
Responsibility for managing and resolving technical enquiries from customers and sales force. Responsible for creation, maintenance and development of product related technical documentation.
Responsible for product control in collaboration with R&D, purchasing, etc.
Carry out / supervise product and application training for internal staff and current/potential customers.
Supporting the sales organisation during customer visits and training sessions as required.
D. Key Skills
Highly organised, with strong attention to detail.
Able to analyse data including financial data, and prepare clear accurate reports with recommendations.
Be a regular and confident user of MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
Confident and self-motivated, able to work easily with internal staff, external consultants and customers at all levels.
Provide a high level of customer care.
Team player but able to work independently and to deadlines.
Technically astute, with suitable qualifications/experience in technically related fields.
Experience of playground or similar safety surfacing would be an advantage but is not a pre-requisite.
