With the Championship, a little over a week away, professional clubs are revamping their facilities for the coming 2017-18 season. And it’s no different for City Ground at Nottingham Forest.

Last week Synthetic Turf Management installed 171 square metres of red TigerTurf Evo Pro at the 119-year-old ground. The sheer size of the touchline required a join to be made which was done using specialist artificial turf glue and a specific process to avoid visible joins. The durability of this product along with its vibrant look, was the perfect product for touchline use.

Touchlines border the playing field and are often used by coaching staff and other spectators of the game, who may be unlikely to wear specialist football footwear.  Artificial turf is particularly suitable as it doesn’t need to be used with football boots and requires minimal maintenance as opposed to natural pitches.

The red colour was chosen specifically as it is consistent with the Nottingham Forest branding. The contrast against natural grass stands out and the turf can withstand slides or tackles should they steer away from the playing zone.

On 4 August 2017, fans will be welcomed by the new touchlines at the stadium for their first game of the season against Millwall.
