Playtop, the Newark-based installer of impact-absorbing play surfacing, has launched a range of three-dimensional shapes called Playtop Spheres.

Inspired by a project at the Guggenheim Museum, which used Playtop wet-pour surfacing, the rubber spheres are ideal for adding a three-dimensional shape to a play area, perhaps where there isn’t any play equipment.

Playtop also believes that landscape architects and designers, who might want to add shape and undefined equipment to their designs, will use the spheres in urban areas, parks and gardens.

Playtop Spheres are available in three sizes (350mm, 450mm and 600mm) and are fixed to the ground using a ground anchor. Each sphere is covered with Playtop rubber granulate from a range of over twenty colours.

Considerable interest has already been shown in the product, with the spheres already installed, as part of a complete playground project, at two schools in Scotland and in various locations across mainland Europe and Scandinavia.
