Total Rugby Triumphs at Twickenham
back to list03 March 2008

The prestigious Twickenham Stadium has recently installed a pioneering new surface for its warm-up area made from artificial turf. The Total Rugby surface from TigerTurf has been introduced into the game on the back of encouragement from the RFU to use more suitable materials for players and coaches.
Simon Winman, Head of Funding & Facilities for the Rugby Football Union, said “Twickenham was looking for a playing system that had been specifically developed for the game, being able to withstand very heavy use and assist in skills training and development. This pioneering surface is the latest boost for the stadium, which has already seen the significant redevelopment of the South Stand bringing standards up to the highest level. It is this investment in excellence which makes Twickenham the proud home of England Rugby.”
With financial support from the Rugby Football Union, a number of clubs across England have benefitted from the TigerTurf rugby system, providing a quality training and playing facility all year round to help improve standards, develop players and introduce the game to a wider and often younger audience.
