SAPCA and IOG to hold Maintenance Seminars

The Sports and Play Contractors’ Association (SAPCA) and the Institute of Groundsmanship (IOG), will hold two one-day seminars on the Maintenance of Synthetic Sports Surfaces during the autumn.The latest in a series of events presented jointly by the two organisations, the courses will be aimed primarily at individuals who have responsibility for the regular maintenance of synthetic sports surfaces, including artificial grass pitches, “all-weather” tennis courts, synthetic athletics tracks and multi-use games areas. Each seminar will provide an introduction to the development of modern playing surfaces and the basic construction principles involved, and explain the standard maintenance requirements for the main types of synthetic sports surface. The seminars include a tour of the sports facilities at each venue and an opportunity to discuss common problems encountered in maintaining and managing synthetic sports facilities.
The seminars are aimed at professional, part-time and volunteer groundsmen, facility managers, club officers and contractors.
The dates and venues are as follows:
11 September 2002 – The University of Edinburgh, Scotland
15 October 2002 – The University of Loughborough, Leics.
The cost of attendance is just £75.00, including lunch, all refreshments and VAT. A reduced delegate fee of £55.00 is available for all members of the IOG and SAPCA.
