Charles Lawrence Surfaces to Launch New Maintenance Company

Charles Lawrence Surfaces plc has announced its intention to launch a new company that will provide specialised and innovative maintenance services aimed at current and potential customers.

The Company has also announced the appointment of Tony Hession, who will join Charles Lawrence in the Autumn of this year and who will lead the formation of the specialist maintenance operation.

The new business will be a separate, wholly-owned subsidiary of the Charles Lawrence Group, offering a comprehensive service to customers in all areas of maintenance including regular brushing and repairs, pressure cleaning, rejuvenation and safety checks.

Tony Hession (46) has worked in the sports surfacing business for 22 years. He joined En-tout-cas in 1980 before joining The ERDC Group in 1992. Latterly he was Managing Director of G Thornton Contracts. He is a former Vice-Chairman of the Sports and Play Contractors' Association (SAPCA) and his extensive industry contacts and technical knowledge will be invaluable in this new and challenging role.

Nigel Allen, Managing Director of Charles Lawrence Group plc and Charles Lawrence Surfaces plc, explained why the Company has decided to invest in this new operation: "Although Charles Lawrence Surfaces plc currently offers a selection of very specific maintenance services, we recognise the need for a more comprehensive package.

"We know that there are millions of square metres of synthetic surfaces in the UK needing professional maintenance care. We also recognise that there is room in the market for a professional maintenance company that carries significant expertise in the surfaces sector and which can offer a total service solution.

"Our aim is to provide the unique Rejuvenation processes that Charles Lawrence already offers and then consolidate these with a range of other tailor-made solutions including regular power grooming and pressure washing through to vandalism repair and safety checks. Above all, the service will be highly competitive and our reputation in the surfaces sector will, I believe, help us to secure a strong market position at an early date."
