Mini Pitch Invasion at Wembley Stadium
back to list02 September 2010
It’s not often that Wembley Stadium sees nine hundred players on the pitch, but this was the scene on 12th August when the FA/McDonald’s National Football Festival returned to the hallowed turf.
All the budding footballers attending the Festival play mini soccer in the Under-10’s age group. The day was divided in to two halves with the morning devoted to friendly games at Northwick Park in the shadow of the famous Wembley arch, before moving to the stadium in the afternoon. With the main pitch divided into four mini soccer pitches, all nine hundred youngsters took it in turns to play a ten minute match.
Harrod UK supplied 10 sets of Folding Mini Soccer Goals for the morning session, and as official equipment suppliers to Wembley stadium their goals were already in situ at the stadium ready for the afternoon. Harrod UK staff remained on hand throughout the event to assemble the goals and ensure the smooth running of the event. Sales & Marketing Manager Kevin Utton explains that “visiting Wembley Stadium is exciting enough, but getting to play on the pitch is something these kids will never forget”.
To add to the excitement, England Manager Fabio Capello was on site to observe the action, along with McDonald’s Director of Football Sir Geoff Hurst.
