SAPCA Elects Nigel Allen as Vice-Chairman
back to list30 May 2002
The new Vice-Chairman of the Sports and Play Contractors’ Association, SAPCA, is Nigel Allen, having been elected at the Association’s Fifth Annual General Meeting.
Allen, 46, is the Managing Director of Charles Lawrence Group Plc based in Newark, Nottinghamshire. Charles Lawrence Surfaces is one of the industry's leading sports and play contractors and was a founder member of SAPCA.
Having graduated as a Surveyor, Nigel Allen joined Charles Lawrence in 1977 and was instrumental in the early development of synthetic sports surfaces
in the UK. Over his 25 years in the industry he has been involved in every aspect of the business through surface installation, contract management and surveying, estimating, HR and accounting, culminating in his appointment as Managing Director of the £17 million turnover Group.
Nigel Allen has been a member of various CEN Technical Committees and is a former Vice-Chairman of the Association of Play Industries. His involvement in the Charles Lawrence tyre recycling and engineering businesses gives him a useful appreciation of the issues concerning companies on the supply side of the Association.
Welcoming the appointment at the AGM, SAPCA Chairman Peter Wellington stated that “the Association is very fortunate that someone of Nigel Allen’s expertise and experience in the industry will be joining SAPCA’s Board of Directors”.
