Manchester stadium in CABE top 10
back to list02 September 2003
The City of Manchester stadium has been named as one of the UK’s top 10 architectural successes of the year.
The Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE) has produced its annual report, which singles out the development as one of the best examples of UK architecture.
The stadium was completed last year in time to host the Commonwealth Games and has subsequently been converted to act as the home of Manchester City FC. The venue, designed by Arup Sport, was recently handed over by the city council and Sport England to its new tenants.
CABE chief executive, Jon Rouse, said: “Manchester has undergone the most extraordinary regeneration experience of any city in Europe.”
