15 January 2007

The ERDC Group are delighted to hand over another successful and prestigious full size Fieldturf soccer pitch. The opening night at Blessed Thomas Holford College was attended by special guest’s ex-Manchester United star and Republic of Ireland International Dennis Irwin, Bernard Halford General Secretary of Manchester City Football Club, school delegates and Trafford MBC officials.

ERDC Regional Manager Dave Fernley said “ERDC were thrilled at being awarded such a local project to our regional office in Sale. ERDC have installed Fieldturf on projects such as the David Beckham Football Academy, FC Barcelona, Manchester City FC, West Ham United, Liverpool FC and Arsenal who are having their third Fieldturf pitch installed earlier in the New Year. Being able to offer this installation is fabulous and we thank all concerned for the team spirit that has been shown to make this project such a pleasure to be involved in”. Dave went on to express appreciation for the relationship that ERDC and Trafford MBC have developed.

ERDC’s Senior Site Manager Ian Kerry who also attended explained “being able to see all these smiling faces tonight make all the hard work so worth while”.

On behalf of ERDC Dave presented match and training balls to the colleges Director of Sports as an appreciation for everybody’s efforts in making the project such a success.

We understand that an international rugby team has shown a strong interest in using the pitch for training leading up to the forthcoming World Cup and we look forward to seeing how this develops.
