The Sports and Play Construction Association, SAPCA, is the recognised UK trade organisation for the sports facility construction industry. SAPCA was formed in 1997, incorporating the previous Synthetic Sports Surfaces Association (SSSA), and plays an important role in the promotion of high standards for the design and construction of synthetic turf pitches.

SAPCA members construct the vast majority of sports facilities across the UK, from grassroots use in parks, community clubs and schools, through centres of excellence and academies at professional clubs through to high-level national and international competition.

SAPCA regulates the sport and play construction industry, sets standards for the quality of facility installations, and provides training and education.

Specialists in Professional Services

Member companies in SAPCA's Professional Services Group are organisations that have been approved by the Association. These professionals have demonstrated that they have the requisite technical expertise, experience and financial stability. All members are committed to high standards of customer service and business practice. They provide a range of professional services, including independent consultants that offer expert advice and guidance on all aspects of sports projects, from funding, feasibility studies and planning applications through to full design, procurement and project management. Among these professionals there are also laboratories that specialise in comprehensive testing of sports surfaces.

Involving Specialists at an early stage enables the development of a collaborative relationship and ensures the preparation of a clear and comprehensive brief – so essential for success. Front-end thinking from skilled, experienced solution providers delivers an integrated, carefully planned project that fully meets the needs of users. Specialists also bring value and efficiency along with the management and co-ordination of the design. They obtain statutory approvals, resolve differences, minimise health and safety risks, analyse environmental, sustainability and whole life cost criteria and check the installation on site throughout the construction process,
